Ever since its inception more than 40 years ago, Les Misérables has transformed from a short-lived musical sung in French running in Paris to today's longest-running musical in the world. Over the past 40 years that the musical has been touring, the show has toured in 53 countries, in 22 different languages, and has been met with applause and standing ovations in each locale visited.
