Beauty And The Beast at William H. Mortensen Hall

Beauty and The Beast, the musical, premiered on Broadway way back in 1994. There's no reason to sugarcoat this, it was bested because of the success of the Lion King. Over the years, there have been multiple attempts to bring the story back into the mainstream theater scene. After a great run in London's West End, and a long tour of Australia, this revival is going on a US tour. One of the stops will luckily be in Hartford, Connecticut on Thursday 9th April 2026.

In other iterations of the show, the set design and the style of the costumes were both kind of dark. This brought a lot of attention on The Beast character. This new version is taking a completely different approach. The emphasis is more on Belle, as it should've always been. This time around, the audience is greeted with creatively crafted backgrounds and colorful costumes that burst off the stage. When you pair that with the traditional soundtrack, you begin to see why both the British and Australian theater goers flocked to this revival. Sorry for the spoilers, but the grand entrance that Belle's character and the different members of her French village have, is the perfect counterpart to The Beast's world. What happened in both the UK and Australia was that people were incredibly hooked by this point in the story. There's no reason why things will be different this evening at Mortensen Hall at Bushnell Theatre and the entire US tour for that matter. Gaston's entrance and musical performance tend to be loved by fans. It's really Belle that the story revolves around though, and for this US Tour they've hired a great actress for the role. At the end of the event, you'll be singing and dancing as you stroll out of Mortensen Hall at Bushnell Theatre.
